Handful of Governors May Refuse Federal Unemployment Benefits

Some GOP governors say new rules on unemployment benefits would hurt their states so they aren't going to accept a portion of the $787 billion recovery and reinvestment act signed into law this week.

Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal is sticking to his position of rejecting part of the federal stimulus money for his state, saying Sunday that accepting an increase in unemployment benefits will lead to higher taxes on businesses in his state.

Mississippi Republican Gov. Haley Barbour, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin say they may follow suit. They say the money to be disbursed to the states in the $787 billion spending and tax cuts package comes with too many strings attached.

"The unemployment insurance reform, if you will, would require the state to pay people who are not willing to take a full-time job," Barbour told FOX News, saying his state is not going to expand benefits to part-time workers. "We're not going to change that. ... We're going to give up about $50 million of federal money."

"It would be like spending a dollar to get a dime," Jindal said on NBC's "Meet the Press. "The federal stimulus bill says it has to be a permanent change in state law if you take this money, so within three years, the federal money is gone, we've got now a permanent change in our laws."

Read the rest here. It will be a shame if the unemployed, who really can't find a job suffers because of the Government loopholes.

Sarah Palin shames Ashley Judd for ad about wildlife

Ashley Judd is just another leftie that drinks kool-aid on a regular basis. I am glad that Sarah Palin spoke out against the ad.

While we are on the subject of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck today corrected a report that Sarah Palin does not approve of the stimulus in it's current state. I was glad to hear that he got it mixed up. He appologized for it.

Arson at Sarah Palin's church

No sign yet of whether or not it’s related to Palin’s vice presidential run. A suspicious fire broke out at Wasilla Bible Church, causing around $1 million in damages. Investigators say arson caused a fire that badly damaged the former church of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin late Friday night and into early Saturday morning. The blaze at the Wasilla Bible Church broke out as a group of women made crafts inside. It is not yet known if the church was targeted because of Palin’s affiliation. Palin’s spokesperson, Bill McAllister, issued a statement on her behalf after she visited the church on Saturday. “(Palin) told an assistant pastor that she apologizes if the incident is in any way connected to the undeserved negative attention the church has received since she became a vice presidential candidate on Aug. 29. Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good.” Church members are in shock and have with unanswered questions after what Mat-Su firefighters called the biggest fire of the year. It’s a place of worship to more than a thousand people in the Valley. But investigators say it’s too early to tell who did what and why. “At this point in time I can’t go into those details since it is an active investigation,” Central Mat-Su Fire Department Chief James Steele said. They did say the fire started on the outside of the back of the building with a handful of people inside around 10 p.m. But the blaze badly damaged what many considered to be a new building, built just three years ago, to the tune of an estimated $1 million. “At least the floor in one area has actually dropped approximately two feet,” Steele said. But the church pastor is focusing on the bigger picture. “I’ve had a lot worst calls at night,” Pastor Larry Kroon said. “When one of your parishioners dies or loses a child, it’s a whole different thing than the building’s on fire.” Besides a new venue for services, Kroon says the fire changes

Joe the Plumber says McCain appalled me

Joe Wurzelbacher lashed out Tuesday at former GOP presidential nominee John McCain, the man who made Wurzelbacher famous as “Joe the Plumber.”

Wurzelbacher told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that he felt “dirty” after “being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place.”

Recalling a conversation he had with McCain about the $700 billion financial industry bailout in September, Wurzelbacher said: “When I was on the bus with him, I asked him a lot of questions about the bailout because most Americans did not want that to happen.”

“I asked him some pretty direct questions,” he continued. “Some of the answers you guys are gonna receive — they appalled me, absolutely. I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.”

Asked why he didn’t leave McCain’s campaign if he was “appalled” by the candidate, Wurzelbacher said, “honestly, because the thought of Barack Obama as president scares me even more.”

While Wurzelbacher was critical of McCain during the interview, he had nothing but praise for his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. “Sarah Palin is absolutely the real deal,” he said.

Saxby Chambliss wins the election!!!!!!!!!

We had a run-off election here in Georgia. The law here says that Saxby Chambliss had to have over 50% of the vote to win. He had 49.8% of the vote. Jim Martin, his Democratic opponent had something like 46% of the vote. There was a Libertarian running also, and he got something like 3% of the vote.

I am glad that Saxby Chambliss won. He says that Sarah Palin brought out the base. This was an important win, not only for Georgians, but for the whole country. We stopped the Democrats from haveing a super majority in the Senate.

I am so sick of the liberals in the media saying things about the Republicans, and about Saxby. I am so tired of the way they have treated and hated President Bush. If the New York Times had it's way, they would get President Bush out of office right this minute. They have been on him since the day he got nominated.

I guess now that Saxby won the election, they are trying to say that Georgians are stupid for voting for him. Why is it the Republicans are always wrong, and the left is right? I haven't been able to figure that one out.

I know one thing, this country needs to get on it's knees and pray for our great nation. I never thought that I would see the day when our religious freedoms are being taken away. It has been happening for the past few years.

Our country is facing a lot of problems. Some of them we have never encountered before. There is a steep moral decline. Christians are being persecuted for their beliefs, and the Supreme Court, and lower courts haven't helped in that department either.

Getting Saxby elected back to the Senate is a start. At least, he will be able to stand up for what is right if the Liberals lean too far to the left. You never know what they will come up with next.

I have heard nothing but bad comments from the media about the senator's win. They would love for the whole Republican party to desolve, and never rise again. I have a message for them, We will be back!!!!!!! Saxby's win is a start. It is time for the right to stand up and fight and take back our country!!!!

Our country is on the verge of falling into destruction. With all of the bail=outs, etc., we will eventually run out of money. We have a Democratic Congress, President elect, and a liberal media to fight against. Who will stand up for what is right in the country? Who will tell the people the truth about what is really going on?

The people need to stay informed about what is going on, not only in Congress, but in the MSM. I blame them a lot for what has happened in this moral decline of our beloved country. We are supposed to be able to trust them to report the news, and not put their own agenda and spin on it. They should be objective in their reporting. You can't trust them anymore.

Little baby steps will help us to rise again, and stand up for what is right. It won't be easy. Christians, we need to pray for our country. If everyone prayed at 9:00 pm every night in their own time zone, we would begin to see some results. The bible says that if two shall agree, it shall be. Prayer changes things.

Sarah Palin and David Letterman

Greta VanSustern on Fox News showed the tape of David Letterman talking about Sarah Palin. I didn’t think that it was right, and I kind of felt that Katie Couric didn’t think too much of it either. I got this email, so I thought that I would post it.

Do you think that he committed a violation of the FCC? What are your thoughts on this? ------Trickyvikki

Subject: On Team Sarah: Not funny, David!

A message to all members of Team Sarah

Such hypocrites!

Two nights ago, David Letterman, in interviewing Katie Couric, described Gov. Palin as “the first vice presidential candidate that I found myself being aroused about.”

It is ghastly that this kind of discourteous, indecent talk should pass for conversational fodder — even on late night TV.

This violates CBS’s own “Program Practices” specifically states that: “The Program Practices editors review material for excessive or gratuitous violence, sexuality, nudity and inappropriate language. They ensure that character portrayals are sensitive to current ethnic, religious, sexual and other significant social concerns.” http://www.cbspressexpress.com/div.php/cbs_network/page/program_practices

A violation? What do *you* think?

Well, don’t just think it! Make your voice heard.

Email the Federal Communications Commission!

Email fccinfo@fcc.gov, tell them your name, where you are from, and EXACTLY how you feel about Letterman taking indecent liberties with a dignified lady, mom, and governor on his show!
