Geithner, Bernanke Hammer Out Bailout Overhaul

The administration is working on proposals for how it will use the last $350 billion from the rescue program. Some of the measures being considered could end up costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars beyond the original $700 billion pricetag.

Are you with Obama or Rush?

Check out this article, here.

The ads they are talking about are running here in Georgia also. I have seen two different ones on television today. They talk about jobs, and at the end of them, they ask everyone to tell Bob Corker to say no to tax cuts for the rich.

The Democrats are trying to drum it into the public's mind that tax cuts are only for the rich. The truth is that the tax cuts would get to the people faster than the simulus would.

I am with Rush. I want Obama's policies to fail, because they are wrong for the country.

Illinois Senators vote 59-0 on Blago impeachment

Today Blogojevich appeared before the State Senate and gave an eloquent speech. He talked about what all he had done as a Governor, etc. He claimed he hasn't done anything wrong. The Senate didn't buy any of it. He left the Springfield Illinois building and went home to await his fate.

The Senate voted 59-0 to impeach him. They had a vote later that said that Blogojevich couldn't be an elected official again in the State of Illinois.
After he found out about his fate, he gave a press conference in front of his home. He never really answered the question about what is next for him.

I kind of felt sorry for him, but he has brought a lot of this upon himself, if not all of it.

Rush Limbaugh responds to Obama

Check this out, here.

I love it. I think that Obama has the "big head" about the Presidency. Pride comes before a fall. I have seen it happen in many business situations. As soon as someone gets a promotion, they think that they are too good to do their job. They get bossy, and you can't stand them for awhile. Not everyone is like that, but some are.

It especially happens to someone who is inexperienced and is not used to having any kind of power. They have to have their "wings" clipped, and be brought down a peg or two before they can make an effective employee.

Karl Rove: Bush was right when it mattered most

I think that it was inexcusable for the way that President Bush was treated by people at the inauguration. "na-na-na-na-hey, hey, Goodbye". After all, he was our President, and deserved our respect for that office.

Now, the left is feeling patriotic and wants to fly the colors. They resent anyone who questions their patriotism. They are all for the country now since the Democrats are in power. It is their country now.

From the first day President Bush took office, and even now, he has had to suffer hatred from the left. The only news that reported on him in Texas was Fox News. The rest of them couldn't wait to get Obama in office, so they could get rid of President Bush.

The left needs to stop the hate. I don't know what it will take, maybe another attack? It was wrong the way that you treated our former President. He is a good man, and should have been respected.

You may later come to appreciate President Bush when Obama screws this country up beyond repair. I for one, hope that doesn't happen. When Obama closes Gitmo, and puts terrorists in prison, and the ACLU lets them out, what will you think of your Messiah then?

I am not trying to hurt anyone, I am just stating my opinion on the subject. Wake up America! Before it is too late to turn back.

Obama's Pricey Inauguration

With Obama's ability to raise so much money, why doesn't he do it to help the economy? He can blow millions of dollars for his inauguration, why can't raise money to help out the country?

Quote="Obama has pledged transparency in his inauguration fundraising. He has disclosed inaugural donors as the fundraising continued, though he is not required to do so until after the ceremony."

[snort-yeah, like he did during his campaign. I will believe it when I see it. I wonder if there will be Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse?]

Security and transportation costs are being paid by taxpayers. And with millions of tourists expected to descend on Washington for Tuesday's inauguration ceremony, Bush declared a state of emergency, allowing the district to recover some costs for the event.

The Republicans ought to say something about the spending when our economy is so bad right now.

Despite the bleak economy, however, Democrats who called on President George W. Bush to be frugal four years ago are issuing no such demands now that an inaugural weekend of rock concerts and star-studded parties has begun.

It is different when a Democrat does it, isn't it? They want to talk about the Republican's spending, and list that as the reason why we lost so many House and Senate seats. I have a feeling that we haven't seen anything yet.

A blog post that I found that is really good

It is written with the title, to my fellow conservatives. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it sad that the Democrats are in control in the House, Senate, and White House.

Everyone acts like they think we ought to be overjoyed because "The One" is about to become the President. Everyone acts like we ought to be happy about it. I find it sad. I cannot be happy about it. I heard the people on television today chanting for Obama.

Quite honestly, the Obama love-fest is getting a little sickening. The MSM is in love with him, and so are the left. I told someone the other day that I believe that he could murder someone on television before everyone's eyes, and they would try to say that he didn't do it.

I feel like screaming when I hear him being compared to Abraham Lincoln, and I wish that they would knock it off. He is not Abraham Lincoln and will never be. It bothers me that he is going to be sworn in on Lincoln's Bible, and the train ride, etc.

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

In Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter &
Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case
against Christians, Jews & observances of their holy days. The argument
was it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized day(s).

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate
presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, 'Case
dismissed.'

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, 'Your honor,
how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas,
Ea ster & amp; others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur & Hanukkah. Yet my
client & all other atheists have no such holidays.'

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, 'But you do. Your client,
counsel, is woefully ignorant.' The lawyer said, 'Your Honor, we are
unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists.'

The judge said, 'The calendar says April 1st is 'April Fools Day.' Psalm
14:1 states 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is
the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then
he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day.

Court is adjourned.

Bush: Obama Shouldn't Become 'Economic Forecaster'

Good Article.

Bush: Obama Shouldn't Become 'Economic Forecaster'
President Bush says his administration did not foresee the economic meltdown.

FOXNews.com

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

WASHINGTON - President George W. Bush is confident that he and first lady Laura Bush have lost money in the economic crisis, but that they won't find out until after he leaves office how much their financial accounts have lost.

In an interview with CNN's Larry King on Tuesday, the president said his personal assets are in a blind trust and that the last time he talked with the trustees was eight years ago. Bush said he has "no earthly idea" how much he and his wife have lost in the market slump but said he's confident that they had lost some.

Asked what part of the responsibility for the financial meltdown rests on his shoulders, Bush defended his decision to ask Congress to approve a $700 billion financial rescue plan. He said his actions have mitigated the effects the economic crisis is having on Americans. He also argued that his administration called for reform of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but that no legislative reform was ever passed.

"Not to blow my own horn, but I recognized the dangers inherent with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and asked Congress to regulate them," Bush said, adding that he was worried they were getting a little overextended.

But he acknowledged that his administration did not foresee the meltdown.

"No, we didn't see it coming," he said. "We saw that there could be dangers in an unregulated Fannie and Freddie and they needed a regulator and they needed to be reined in."

Bush also said it wasn't a good idea for President-elect Obama to "become an economic forecaster once he gets to be president."

"I think he can say it's going to be a tough period, but to predict what the economy is going to do ... it is going to be bad. How bad? How long?" Bush said. "What he ought to be saying -- and I know he feels this way -- is he's going to take the steps he thinks are necessary to get us back on the road to recovery and we will recover."

In the interview held in the White House library, Bush also defended Vice President Dick Cheney, describing him as an intelligent patriot. He denied allegations that some of the harsh interrogation techniques used on terror suspects amounted to torture and said he was "comfortable" with the methods used because they were based on legal opinions. While he said the U.S.-led invasion in Iraq was the right decision, he acknowledged being "worried Iraq was going to fail" at the time he decided to dispatch 30,000 more U.S. troops there in 2007.

Bush was asked if Hurricane Katrina was the lowest point of his presidency.

"Well, I think being called a racist was the low point," Bush replied, referring to reaction to the federal government's sluggish response to the needs of hurricane victims, many of whom were black.

Asked if he thought he had gotten a bum rap as president, Mrs. Bush chimed in, saying that she thought he had. "A lot of it was very personal and demeaning," she said.

The president, however, brushed off the criticism, saying he couldn't and didn't make decisions based on polls.

On other issues, the president said he was a little surprised that his brother, Jeb, decided not to run for the Senate from Florida. Bush declined to tip his hand about whether he planned to issue more pardons before leaving office. And he said he had no interest in being commissioner of baseball -- that even though he loves the sport, he was going to focus his attention on writing a book and developing his presidential library and center at Southern Methodist University campus in Dallas.

Hamas executes 6 suspected collaborators with Israel

Source.

They were suspected of delivering information to IDF, guiding IAF warplanes, and were put to death by Hamas in the past two days by Hamas security officers in the fighting zone in Jabalya.

Among the alleged collaborators were three brothers, one of whom attempted before his arrest to swallow a cell phone's SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, which is believed to have documented his conversations with Israeli security officials.

An eyewitness said that among the dead were three brothers executed on the street. Palestinians organization members and security sources in the Strip confirmed the report.

A source in Hamas said that all these guys had confessed to the act in the presence of their sister. She announced in public that she condemned her brothers and would cut all ties with them due to their betrayal.

A fourth sibling from the same family was executed last week after attempting to escape a bombed Gaza jail. He was imprisoned for collaborating with Israel and for aiding the assassination of Amar Karmut, the former leader of the Salah al-Din Brigades, the Popular Resistance Committees' military wing in the northern Strip.

I am wondering if they really confessed, or were coerced into it. Or, Hamas could be saying that to justify the deaths.

Senators were sworn in today for a new term, except for two of them

The Senators were sworn in today by Vice President Dick Chaney. There were two of them not sworn in, though. They have declared Al Frankin to be the Senator for Minn. but, Norm Coleman has chosen to fight it in court. So, by law, Al Frankin can't take the seat. Some voting areas are having double ballots, etc. There are more ballots than there are registered voters.

The second one that didn't get sworn in today was Roland Burris. He was selected by Blagojevich to be the Senator from Ill. According to Roland Burris, he is the Jr. Senator of Ill. With the scandal going on with Blagojevich, Harry Reid gave interviews saying he wouldn't let Burris into the Senate.

It appears that Harry Reid will be proven wrong. Blagojevich is still the Governor of Ill. until he either resigns or is indicted, or is impeached. Burris gave a small press conference yesterday evening saying that he is the Jr. Senator of Ill. Well, today he showed up at the Senate and was told that his papers weren't in order by the Secretary.

You have to admire Roland Burris for not letting this get him down. He had to have had an idea that they would come up with something to not let him in today.

You Never Know Who is Living in Your Neighborhood

This is a true story that I wrote for another site.

I read a news story this morning about a brother and sister who had been separated for 40 years. They finally found each other. They discovered they only lived 300 yards apart.

Ordsall, Greater Manchester

It seems that you never know who could be living in your neighborhood. That could be a bad thing, or a good thing, as the people in the story I read in the Sun this morning.

A brother and sister were apart for 40 years. Their parents had died when they were children, and a family friend had taken them in. When they reached adulthood, they simply lost touch with each other. They had spent their early years in Ordsall, Greater Manchester. They probably had always wondered what ever happened to their sibling.

Little did they know, they lived 300 yards from each other. They had probably seen each other, and not even recognized who they were. Ken Whitty, 64, had moved to Reddish in 2002. His sister Yvonne is 62.

He decided to write a letter in the local paper about his lost sister. He was wanting to get back in touch with her. Soon after the letter was published, he got a phone call. The voice on the other end of the phone probably sounded familiar. She said, "Hello, this is Yvonne." The article didn't say what he said. I can just imagine that there was a surge of emotion on both sides of that phone line.

Ken did say that he couldn't believe that Yvonne lived so close to him. He said, " I couldn't believe it. I shot round to see her."

About their time apart, Ken says, "I just assumed she'd turn up, but the years rolled by."

Yvonne said, "It's so nice to see Ken again. It's overwhelming."

Ken's daughter, Nicola Dawes said: "Our family has now doubled. We are all so happy."

They probably hadn't even dreamed that they had lived so close to each other. I like good stories like that, and I just had to share it. Here is a link to one of the articles about this. Fox News.

Obama voting "present" again?

I just found this article, here, and I agreed with everything that was said. I would like to add a few things to it.

Obama is going to be the President in a few weeks. With all the problems that are going on, my prayers are for him. I want him to succeed.

He seems to have trouble making up his mind. See my other article on this topic.

My main gripe about Obama, is the way the media has a love-affair with him. It has gotten to the point of being sickening. Have they never heard of "over-kill?" I say enough already. The pictures of him without a shirt on, are sickening also. I find them grose.

I grant you if he were a Republican, the media wouldn't be doing all this. They would be all over him everytime he took a deep breath. I just hope that with this "love-fest" going on, that it doesn't effect him in doing his job as President of the United States.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thousands of shoes were dumped on a Miami expressway

Check out the pictures here.

MIAMI — Thousands of shoes were dumped this morning on a Miami expressway. It caused a significant backup in traffic.

Lt. Pat Santangelo of the Florida Highway Patrol recieved the report during rush hour traffic Friday morning. A front-end loader and a dump truck were brought by a private contractor to the half-mile stretch of highway.

Workers were able to clear at least one lane after a short time by sweeping all the shoes to shoulder, but delays were expected to last until all the shoes could be removed.

Lt. Santangelo said the shoes were used and most of them were tied together in pairs, making it more difficult to pick them up in a hurry. He says he is looking for a charity to give the shoes to, instead of sending them to the dump.

Santangelo said that he isn't sure where the shoes came from. There were no signs of a crash, and no one has claimed them yet.

KAILUA, Hawaii – A small group of placard-waving pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered near U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's vacation retreat in Hawaii on Tuesday to protest against the Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

Obama has made no public comment on the strikes, which Israel launched on Saturday. Aides have repeatedly said he is monitoring the situation and continues to receive intelligence briefings but that there is only one U.S. president at a time.

But with outgoing Republican President George W. Bush already viewed as a lame-duck, many people, particularly in the Middle East, are looking past him to Obama, who is due to be sworn in on January 20, for leadership.

Obama did speak out after the attacks on the Indian city of Mumbai in November in which gunmen killed nearly 180 people, condemning them as acts of terrorism.

He has also spoken on the economic problems facing the United States.

"He is talking about how many jobs he is going to create but he is refusing to speak about this," said one of the protesters, Carolyn Hadfield, 66.

She was one of eight protesters standing with placards reading "No U.S. support for Israel" and "Gazans need food and medicine, not war" near Obama's rented vacation home in Kailua, an upmarket suburb on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, where he is in the second week of a vacation with his family.

Obama did not acknowledge the protesters when his motorcade drove past to take him to play basketball at his old school. He stared straight ahead sipping from a bottle of water.

"The president-elect values citizen participation in our nation's foreign policy, but there is one president at a time, and we intend to respect that," said Brooke Anderson, his chief national security spokesperson.

Obama has in the past called Israel one of the United States' greatest allies and has vowed to ensure the security of the Jewish state.

He has also said he would make a sustained push to achieve the goal of two states -- a Jewish state in Israel and a Palestinian state.

Israel on Tuesday pressed on with air strikes in Gaza that it says are in response to rocket fire by Hamas militants deep inside the Jewish state. Medical officials put Palestinian casualties at 383 dead and more than 800 wounded.

"We are very upset with what is going in Palestine. There is a very great need for change in U.S. foreign policy toward Israel and Palestine. We need to stop giving Israel a blank check," said another protester, Margaret Brown, 66.

The protesters were rebuffed when they tried to hand a letter signed by dozens of U.S. activist groups to a Secret Service agent guarding the access road to Obama's beachfront compound.

The Bush administration has backed Israel's actions in Gaza and demanded the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas stop firing rockets into Israel and agree to a lasting ceasefire.

In Washington, several hundred pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the State Department, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as "free Palestine" while police looked on but took no action.
